For your manager
Many of my clients are funded through an employer's professional development, L&D, or wellbeing budget. This page is written to be forwarded — send your manager or finance contact the link rather than trying to summarise it yourself.
Credentials
MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience with a research topic in human motivation, and 8+ years as a software engineer at Google before that. Professional coach since 2022, with over a thousand one-to-one session-hours. I work almost entirely with knowledge workers — engineers, researchers, and technical managers in tech companies and mission-driven nonprofits — so the working conditions your employee is describing are ones I have coached through many times.
Scope of the engagement
One-to-one coaching on productivity and burnout: sustainable working patterns, prioritisation and focus, motivation and follow-through, and recovering from — or heading off — the exhaustion and disengagement that precede a resignation. Typical presenting problems are work that keeps slipping, difficulty deciding what actually deserves the time, and capable people running at a pace they cannot hold.
Sessions are 55 minutes over video, weekly or biweekly. A standard engagement is 12 sessions over roughly three months, after which the employee and I review whether to continue; shorter and longer engagements are equally workable. The employee sets the agenda each session.
Coaching is not therapy and is not a substitute for mental health care. I am not a licensed psychologist. Full terms are in my legal disclaimer.
Confidentiality
Sessions are confidential, and session contents are not discussed outside of the session. An employer who funds coaching receives an invoice and, if required, confirmation that sessions took place — never session content, notes, progress reports, or assessments.
Session notes, where I keep them, are brief and held in Google Drive, which encrypts data in transit and at rest to AES-256, on an account secured with two-factor authentication. Notes are never shared with an employer and are deleted on request. Where an organisation's information-security policy requires specific handling — a Google Workspace tenancy with enterprise administrative controls, a defined retention and deletion schedule, or storage in a system you nominate — I will put that in place for the duration of the engagement.
Fees and billing
The standard package is 12 sessions over three months at $120/session — a total of $1,440, and 20% below my standard $150/session rate, which is the discount for contracting a block of sessions rather than booking them one at a time. That total sits inside the annual professional development allowance at most of the organisations my clients work for.
Other package sizes are equally workable — tell me the session count or the budget you have to spend and I will quote a fixed total against it. Invoicing is monthly in arrears, from Ida Mayer Coaching & Consulting LLC. I can invoice the employer directly against a purchase order, or provide the employee with an itemised receipt suitable for expense reimbursement.
I am a US citizen and a US person for tax purposes, so I complete a Form W-9 and you issue a 1099 — the ordinary domestic-contractor process, with no W-8BEN, foreign vendor setup, or withholding questions to resolve, regardless of where I am working from.
Available on request, at no charge and usually same-week:
- Form W-9
- A signed non-disclosure agreement
- A statement of work with fixed session count and total, for a bounded approval
- Completion of your standard vendor onboarding or security questionnaire
- A data processing agreement, if your organisation requires one
If a budget holder has questions before approving, they are welcome to contact me directly.
